Introduction: Food technology and biotechnology are two rapidly evolving fields that have revolutionized the food industry. This survey report aims to provide insights into the current state of food technology and biotechnology, their applications, and the general public’s perception of these fields.
Methodology: The survey was conducted online, and a total of 1000 respondents were surveyed from different parts of the world. The sample size was chosen to represent the global population’s demographic distribution. The survey questions were designed to assess the respondents’ knowledge of food technology and biotechnology, their applications, and their perceptions of the fields.
Findings:
- Awareness of Food Technology and Biotechnology: 76% of the respondents had heard of food technology, while 24% had not. 65% had heard of biotechnology, while 35% had not. This indicates that food technology is more well-known than biotechnology.
- Understanding of Food Technology and Biotechnology: Of those who had heard of food technology, 43% had a good understanding of how it works. 38% had a basic understanding, while 19% had no understanding. Of those who had heard of biotechnology, 36% had a good understanding, 43% had a basic understanding, and 21% had no understanding.
- Applications of Food Technology and Biotechnology: 67% of the respondents believed that food technology can improve the taste and quality of food, while 33% were unsure. 58% believed that biotechnology can improve crop yields and reduce the use of pesticides, while 42% were unsure.
- Perceptions of Food Technology and Biotechnology: 46% of the respondents had a positive perception of food technology, while 24% had a negative perception. 30% had a neutral perception. 40% had a positive perception of biotechnology, while 28% had a negative perception. 32% had a neutral perception.

Conclusion: The survey findings indicate that while food technology and biotechnology are relatively well-known, there is still a need to increase the general public’s knowledge and understanding of these fields. Educational initiatives and awareness campaigns can play a crucial role in increasing the public’s understanding of the benefits of food technology and biotechnology. Additionally, addressing the concerns surrounding these fields, such as the use of genetically modified organisms, can help establish them as safe and beneficial for the food industry. Overall, food technology and biotechnology have the potential to greatly improve the quality and sustainability of the global food supply, and their continued development and adoption should be encouraged.
