The Hawa office finally gave good news in the midst of heat. Rain is predicted in Kolkata. Wind will blow with it. This change in weather may bring some relief from the intense heat.


On Thursday, the Alipore Meteorological Department said that Kolkata and some other districts of South Bengal are likely to experience thunderstorms. Next Sunday and Monday in Kolkata, for now the forecast is for these two days. The intensity of the storm is expected to decrease slightly over the weekend. Along with the rain, gusty winds of 30 to 40 km will also blow in the city.
Apart from Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, Purulia, Bankura, West Burdwan, East Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad, Nadia are likely to receive rain from Sunday. Apart from this, there is a possibility of rain in North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, East Medinipur, Jhargram and West Medinipur from Saturday. There is no possibility of a heat wave in Kolkata on Saturday.
But this much-desired relief from the storm will have to wait for a few more days. A heatwave warning has been issued in South Bengal for the next two days. The weather office has issued a red alert for Jhargram, Bankura, Paschim Burdwan, Birbhum on Thursday.
For the last few days, the people of the state are breathing heavily due to the heat. The mercury has crossed the 40 degree Celsius mark in several districts of South Bengal including Kolkata. There are heat waves almost every day. I don’t want to step outside in the scorching sun. In this situation, everyone was waiting for a chilly rain. Finally came the desired forecast from the wind office. They had already announced rain in some southern districts. This time a storm forecast has been issued for Kolkata and nearby areas as well.
Along with South Bengal, the North will also be wet. Light rain is likely over Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar from Thursday to Monday. Rain with thunder may occur in Malda, North Dinajpur and South Dinajpur from Saturday. But before that, there is a possibility of severe heat waves till Friday in these three northern districts. The air office has issued a red warning.
