Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batted first at 226/6 in the whirlwind innings, although it looked like Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) might struggle to challenge in the chase at first. However, a sensational third wicket from captain Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell has now put the hosts in full hands. The duo slammed the ball into various parts of the ground before Maxwell finally made 76 for 36.

He and Du Plessis combined for a staggering 126 runs from just 61 balls. Earlier, CSK lost Ruturaj Gaikwad early on but Ajinkya Rahane got them into the power game. Devon Conway later joined the party and went on the charge after Rahane fell to Wanindu Hasaranga. Still, the carnage continued as Shivam Dube came in and scored 80 in just 37 balls for the third wicket.
Conway went 83-for-45, after which Dube continued to attack. The Indians scored 52 off 27 balls before falling to Wayne Parnell. Ambati Rayudu, Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja all came in and smashed some big balls to make it 226/6 for CSK on aggregate.
