IIT Madras (Indian Institute of Technology Madras) is one of the premier engineering institutions in India, located in Chennai (formerly known as Madras). It was established in 1959 and has since then grown into a world-renowned institution known for its excellence in education and research.
A second-year B.Tech chemical engineering student at IIT-Madras was found dead in his hostel room on Friday in the suspected suicide case, the fourth such case at the first college this year.The deceased was 20 years old, from Madhya Pradesh, and lived in a dormitory on campus. On Friday morning, Suresh’s friends found his room locked from the inside for hours.
Since their calls went unanswered, the friends in question notified the dormitory administrator, who in turn called the police.
IIT-Madras has seen several student deaths in recent months, the latest on March 31, when a research scholar was found dead.
