A fire broke out at Kolkata’s Santoshpur railway station on Wednesday. The incident happened on home number 2.
The fire spread to all adjacent shops around Platform 2 of the station. The station runs through the Bajaj-Shielda route.
KOLKATA, April 6 (PTI) A massive fire broke out at Santoshpur railway station in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on Thursday night, prompting railway authorities to suspend train operations on the Badge Badge-Shields section of the Eastern Railway. It was forced to stop temporarily, officials said.
Several small shops on the train station platform were destroyed in the flames, officials said.
The Sealdah-Budge Budge section has suspended train services to and from. We hope train services will resume soon,” Eastern Railway said. a senior official said.
A fire department official said the cause of the fire was not yet known. Firefighters have been trying to extinguish the blaze or keep it out for more than an hour, he said.
